The Florida State Seminoles Football program is off to its worst start in almost 50 years. According to the writers over at pick six previews, this is the program’s first 0-3 start since 1976.

The Seminoles are off to an abysmal 0-3 start to the season. Florida State barely lost their season opener in an overtime thriller to no. 12 Notre Dame 41-30. Since then, the Seminoles have suffered two losses at the hands of less Jacksonville State and Georgia Tech.

Stunned by Jacksonville State

Florida state’s Week 2 loss at the hands of the Gamecocks was a stunner for two reasons. The first reason is that it was a last-second Hail Mary attempt as time expired that knocked off the Seminoles. With just one second on the clock on 4th-and-10 from their own 41-yard line, Jacksonville State quarterback Zerrick Cooper launched a pass into single coverage to Damond Philyaw-Johnson.

The receiver made an over-the-shoulder catch at the 20-yard line where he then eluded two Florida State would-be tacklers and make his way into the end zone. The Gamecocks went on to win the game 20-17. The other shocking thing was this was Jacksonville State’s first win against an FBS school in over 10 years. Back in 2010, they upset the Ole Miss Rebels.

Seminoles fall to the Demon Deacons

Their week three loss was against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons; an ACC rival they have dominated in the past. In a game in which they never lead, Florida State was destroyed by the Demon Deacons 35-14. They committed a total of six turnovers, three fumbles, and three interceptions in the game. Wake Forest primarily controlled the game through their rushing attack. They ran for 225 yards on 58 attempts. This allowed the Demon Deacons to control the pace of the game. They finished with almost 40 minutes in time possession.

The Seminoles look to right the ship in their next match-up. This Saturday, Sept. 25, they will face off against the Louisville Cardinals in another ACC matchup. The Cardinals come into this game with a record of 2-1 with their only loss coming against the top-25 ranked Ole Miss. The Florida State Seminoles are looking to avoid a disastrous 0-4 start and arguably the worst start in the program’s history.
