Florida State Vice President and Athletic Director Michael Alford sent a not-so-cryptic message to Seminoles faithful on Friday.

There’s been a lot of speculation done regarding Mike Norvell possibly jetting from Tallahassee to Tuscaloosa, replacing Nick Saban with Alabama. Apparently, that won’t be the case, at least not according to Alford.

Check out the post Alford shared to X (formerly known as Twitter) on Friday, insinuating that Florida State and Norvell have come to some sort of agreement to keep the respected leader in-charge of the Seminoles for the foreseeable future.

Norvell’s name has been thrown into the ring by many media members, but it’s looking like he won’t be leaving the Seminoles. He led Florida State to a tremendous season in 2023, and losing him would be a huge blow, especially to the Crimson Tide.

Where Alabama goes from here remains to be seen, but the Crimson Tide will for sure reel in a big fish, it just remains to be seen what pond they take from.

The biggest storyline of the 2024 offseason will be the coaching turnover in Tuscaloosa following the retirement of Alabama head coach Nick Saban.

From the moment he announced his retirement, several of the most high-profile head coaches in the country have been rumored to be a candidate for the vacant position.

Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne released a statement on Wednesday that the next time the public would hear from him, it would be when he was introducing his football program’s new head coach. But which names should we be taking seriously?

At the moment, Kalen DeBoer has the shortest odds, and he would be a money hire after leading Washington tot he national title game.

DeBoer has been a winner everywhere he’s gone — and that trend could surely continue at Alabama. The odds-on favorite to be named Nick Saban’s successor, DeBoer would have massive shoes to fill.

Fresh off a run to the College Football Playoff National Championship game, DeBoer has officially solidified himself as one of the top coaching minds in power five football.

If the hire ends up happening, the 2023-24 season would have served as a perfect tuning session for what he’d be capable of leading a program like Alabama. With those types of resources, the sky is the limit for DeBoer is Tuscaloosa. Time will tell if it comes to fruition.
