Florida State Syracuse Predictions

Florida State will be without one of its top playmakers on Saturday against Syracuse. Seminoles star receiver Johnny Wilson will miss the game, according to ESPN Insider Pete Thamel.

Wilson left last week’s win over Virginia Tech early in the second half with an injury. FSU head coach Mike Norvell was unsure how serious the injury was immediately after the game. However, Wilson Tweeted a positive update following the matchup.

“I’m straight! Love these boys man!” he posted.

Norvell did provide an update on Wilson earlier this week and said that he was hopeful he would be able to play.

“Yea, you know, I mean it’s going to be something that we see as we go throughout the course of the week,” Mike Norvell said on Monday. “Johnny was feeling better yesterday. And so we’re excited about where we think it can go. But ultimately, you take it day-by-day this week. I thought he did a wonderful job there in the first half on Saturday. He really has taken his game to another level just in how he played and what he’s been able to do. So hopeful to be able to get him back rolling here early in the week.”

Johnny Wilson caught four passes for 54 yards and two touchdowns, prior to going down with the injury against Virginia Tech.

So far this season, Wilson has 20 catches for 357 yards and two touchdowns.

With Wilson out, it could mean even more opportunities for fellow star receiver Keon Coleman. The Michigan State transfer has 20 catches for 278 yards and six touchdowns.

More Florida State injury updates

In addition to Johnny Wilson being out, Pete Thamel also provided updates on a few other Florida State players.

Thamel revealed that offensive lineman Bless Harris is a gametime decision for the matchup against Syracuse, while fellow offensive lineman Robert Scott will play but be limited.

Harris started three of the first five games of the season, before missing last week’s matchup against Virginia Tech. Scott started the opener against LSU but missed the following three games with an injury. He did return against the Hokies and play limited snaps.

Thamel added that tight end Jaheim Bell and linebacker Tatum Bethune will play against the Orange.

Bell is currently fourth on the team with 10 receptions for 151 yards and two touchdowns. He could see an increased role without Wilson. Bethune is second on the team with 25 tackles.
