No. 23 Florida State crushed Boston College 44-14 on Saturday and the best news for the Seminoles came in the form of quarterback Jordan Travis‘ health. The starting quarterback returned to action after suffering a left leg injury in the previous week’s win over Louisville.

On Monday, coach Mike Norvell provided an update on Jordan Travis’ health after the win over the Eagles.

“I think that coming out of the game he felt great,” Norvell said. “Was able to practice yesterday. We’re going to continue to push him.”

Travis didn’t appear terribly limited in the big win over the weekend, going 16-of-26 passing for 321 yards and a touchdown. He did not throw an interception and he also added one carry for 16 yards.

The Seminoles, now 4-0, continued humming right along.

Norvell praised his junior quarterback’s toughness and commitment to rehab during the week for being able to play on an eight-day turnaround folllowing the initial injury.

“He did a great job. I touched on it just after the game, it was impressive seeing him get to Wednesday,” Norvell said. “He was very, very limited there on Tuesday, but he got treatment so much from last weekend all the way up. And then when I saw him out there Wednesday moving around, even though he was still not full go, but I felt very confident where that would progress to, to go in and play the way he did it just speaks volumes to the preparation that he’s putting in.”

Back in good health, Jordan Travis’ development continuing

The version of Travis Florida State fans are seeing on the field on Saturday just seems to get better and better.

He was once again very good against Boston College, showing a composure and ability to make things happen from the quarterback spot that has largely been missing for the Seminoles since the departure of 2013 Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston.

“You get the adrenaline going and just some of those reactionary things (happen),” Norvell said. “That one run that he had was remarkable. He’s very confident in what he sees. He had the early play coming out of the end zone where he scrambled and was able to put the ball over to Darion (Williamson), and then later on, I think it might have been that same drive, where he scrambled and things, everybody pushed back and stayed in coverage, and he was able to get a 15-, 16-yard run based off it.”

Knowing when to be aggressive with his legs and take what the defense gives him rather than forcing things is something Norvell has seen Travis improve on over time.

“That’s the balance,” the FSU coach said. “He has great athletic ability, but what he’s able to do with his arm, trusting the rhythm, trusting his guys that are out on the perimeter, it’s pretty special to see.”
