The Florida State Seminoles jumped all over the Virginia Tech Hokies early on Saturday. The Seminoles currently lead 22-0 in the first quarter, thanks to a highly unusual touchdown run by FSU running back Lawrance Toafili.

Check it out below as he uses a couple of Hokie defenders to allow him to body surf his way into the end zone.

He was brought down at the five, but he and a Virginia Tech defender rolled towards the end zone at the same time. Since Toafili was on top of the Hokie defender, it allowed him to score.

Toafili was the Seminoles’ second-leading rusher on Saturday night. Their dominant ground attack helped propel FSU to a 39-17 win. Although they won comfortably, they didn’t pull away in the game until the fourth quarter.

Toafili finished with six carries for 50 yards and a touchdown. The Virginia Tech run defense could not stop the FSU rushing attack all night long. The Seminoles gashed the Hokies to the tune of 282 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Last year for the Seminoles, Toafili racked up over 600 all-purpose yards and six total touchdowns.

On Saturday night, the Seminoles were carried by a career-best performance from running back Trey Benson. He finished with 200 rushing yards and two touchdowns on just 11 carries, but two of them proved to be daggers in the hearts of the Virginia Tech Hokies.

Benson ripped off two huge runs on Saturday, one of them being a 62-yard touchdown run. At the time, it was his career-long. That one helped to push the Florida State lead to 29-17 with 14:31 in the third quarter. Then later in the game, he ripped off an 85-yard touchdown run, setting a new career-long. That one helped push the ‘Noles lead to 39-17 in the fourth quarter, and that would be the final score.

The two touchdown runs proved to be backbreaking for the Virginia Tech Hokies and they simply couldn’t recover, despite a very valiant effort on Saturday night.

With the win, Florida State moved to 5-0 overall and first place in the ACC. After the loss, Virginia Tech moved to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the ACC. Up next for FSU, they’ll take on the Syracuse Orange on Oct. 14th. Kickoff for that one is set for 1:00 PM EST.

They’ll face off against their rivals, the Miami Hurricanes, on November 11th.
