Mike Norvell’s team has had a roller coaster of a season. Florida State started 4-0 and then followed that with a three-game losing streak. With that said, the Seminoles are back on the upswing with a three-game win streak that has their head coach believing his team is playing as well as anyone in the nation.

Norvell applauded his team during his press conference after their 38-3 win at Syracuse on Saturday. He says what’s helping them is that they’re focused on themselves and that they’re ready to get back to work and improve even after blowing out their last three opponents.

“It’s still about us. It’s still about our growth, still about our process, still about us making sure that we’re cleaning up the areas that we can clean up and go out there and play our best game,” said Norvell. “Was tonight perfect? No. So, I can promise you tomorrow we’re going to go back to work. We’re going to focus on the things that we need to do to continue to improve and get better. That’s what this team is embracing.”

Florida State, who was ranked 20th in the latest AP Poll, is arguably playing its best football of the season. They’ve defeated Georgia Tech, Miami, and Syracuse by a combined 102 points over the last three weeks. Their average of 41.3 points on offense is impressive, but their defense has stolen the show by allowing just six total points the last two weeks against the Hurricanes and Orange.

If there’s another team playing better in the country, Norvell would like you to point him in their direction. He credits it all to his team’s investment in their work, which is something they’ll pick back up this week.

“When you continue to believe, you are investing that work, you’re pouring into each other and you’re doing it with all your heart? It’s fun to watch and play. I think our guys are playing as good as anybody right now,” Norvell said. “It’s impressive to see but the only way to continue that is to go back to work. That’s what we’re going to do and that’s what our guys believe in.”

The Seminoles are finishing strong with two games left in their regular season. With matchups left against Louisiana and Florida, Norvell and his team want to continue their great play and make a statement as they head towards their first bowl game since 2019.
