Florida Seminole Football Begins Fall Camp

The Florida State Seminoles have a few bumps and bruises that they’re dealing with during their 2023 fall camp. According to head coach Mike Norvell, the injuries some Seminoles players are dealing with are not severe, and they heal soon. But while some players are out on the mend, their absences give others on the roster an opportunity to get some much-needed quality reps in.

Recently, at Florida State’s fall camp, Norvell addressed the Seminoles’ injury issues, along with highlighting the benefits it has for the players and the team as a whole.

“Yeah, we’ve had normal early camp, some bruises, some things that are that have jumped out. Nothing that’s too concerning big picture-wise,” said Norvell. “But we got some guys that are working through different issues, and we’ll continue to get them back on the field as quick as possible.

“That’s where the depth and the quality of newcomers is something that I’m really, really excited about—just seeing those guys maximize the opportunity that they’re getting. And we got a lot of competition. This is gonna be good for us in the long run with some of the positions that have a couple of guys that are down, just how it can all work together.”

When it comes to the elite programs of college football, there is one thing that they all have in common — depth at multiple positions all over the field. If Florida State is to climb the college football mountain top under Norvell’s direction, then developing depth will be essential. And all the nicks and dings that some players are dealing with in fall camp is allowing Florida State to do just that.

Norvell shares his excitement level for 2023 season

The Seminoles headman also took some time recently to share how his excitement has been growing every day in anticipation of the start of the football year.

“I mean, I hope I’m more excited today than I was yesterday. And Lord willing, I wake up tomorrow more excited than what I was today,” said Norvell. “Every chance that we get to be together, every chance that we get to positively impact each other on this journey, there should be a sense of excitement. I’m grateful for who I get to coach, I’m grateful for who I get to coach with, (and) I’m grateful for what I get to represent. And that builds because when you pour your heart into it, when you pour your work into it, all the passion that you have, it that ownership.”

It took a few seasons under Norvell’s leadership, but he has turned the Florida State program around. The Seminoles went from 5-7 in 2021, missing out on bowl season, to a 10-3 finish in 2022, including a win over the Oklahoma Sooners and the Cheez-It Bowl.
