Florida State Seminoles BEAT Florida!

Paul Finebaum has seemingly grown tired of Florida State, regardless of if the Seminoles currently sit at 12-0 or not. That opinion came out again on Sunday after FSU finished their regular season with an undefeated record.

Finebaum shared his criticism of the Seminoles and their fanbase during ‘The Matt Barrie Show’ in the aftermath of their 24-14 win at Florida on Saturday. He went as far as to call them a sensitive bunch as he recalled their history as well as their actions heading before this season.

“I’ve already said Michigan has the most thin-skinned fanbase in the country. So I can’t say Florida State has the most thin-skinned fanbase in the country – they’re second. And they always have been. I mean this was a teacher’s college forty years ago. They became a big, great football power because of Bobby Bowden,” said Finebaum. “Then, Jimbo (Fisher) came there and they remained thin-skinned. I mean I’ve dealt with them for a long time.”

“By the way, which one of the fanbases in America got up a couple of months ago at a Board of Directors, a Board of Trustees meeting and said, ‘We’re too good for the ACC’?” Finebaum asked. “‘We want out!’, ‘We belong elsewhere!’, ‘We’re open for business!’. Who was that trustee and who did he represent?”

Much of Finebaum’s current disapproval of the ‘Noles has to do with their legitimacy as a playoff contender without Jordan Travis. There was little doubting of them prior to his injury but, with Tate Rodemaker as their QB1 now, he hasn’t been shy about questioning the validity of them being a top-four team.

That’s why, even with a nine-point win over the Gators securing their unblemished mark, Finebaum still maintained that they’re not playoff quality. He went on to add that their potential win over Louisville in the ACC Championship will do little to change that opinion of his either.

“Now they’re upset that Matt Barrie dares to make a factual statement? They’re not the same team and we saw that last night,” said Finebaum. “Hey, congratulations Florida State! You beat Florida in The Swamp! You beat a program that, for the last two years, has had a losing season. That’s a major accomplishment!”

“By the way, that was one of your toughest games of the year,” Finebaum said. “You’re playing Louisville this week in Charlotte for the ACC Championship. And, by the way, that will be on ABC – which is part of ESPN. We’ll be promoting it all week. We’re proud of that game here at the Worldwide Leader. But they lost to Kentucky at home yesterday…Shut up already.”
