Mike Norvell added a weapon for quarterback Jordan Travis in the spring NCAA transfer portal window. Wide receiver Keon Coleman joined Florida State via Michigan State, adding one of the country’s top receivers to the roster. Early impressions, from Travis specifically, are positive ones.

Travis recently spoke with On3’s Warchant, calling Coleman “insane.” He has not been able to go through an official practice quite yet. But based on some of the player-led practices they have been through, Travis is excited to work with Coleman moving forward.

“He’s insane,” Travis said. “He’s a really good player, works really hard. He’s been making big plays in one on ones that we’ve been having with player-led practices. He’s really special.”

Coleman broke out during the 2022 season, having 58 receptions for 798 yards and seven touchdowns. In what was a tough year for Michigan State, the wide receiver was a bright spot. When Coleman decided to enter the portal, he was a popular man and thankfully for those in Tallahassee, Florida State won out.

On the field, Travis is feeling pretty good. Coleman is passing with flying colors off the field as well with his new quarterback. Travis is a recent attendee of the Manning Passing Academy, learning a thing or two from Eli Manning and Peyton Manning.

Travis described Coleman as a “good person” even if the relationship is still in its early stages. An important aspect for Travis if he is going to have a good relationship with someone — a star wide receiver or not.

“Always has a smile on his face, which is important to me,” Travis said of Coleman. “Just the type of person you are. After having that meeting with Eli and Peyton, they always talk about how you have to be a good person. That’s a big thing. You cannot just be a good football player. You have to be a special person. I think Coach Norvell recruits great players but also great people at the same time.”

With how highly Travis is speaking of Coleman, fans are going to be eager to see the duo finally play with each other. Have no fear, just a few months separate us from the beginning of football season. Florida State will open with a big one too, playing LSU in Orlando.

That would be quite the way for Coleman to introduce himself in front of what should be a Seminole-centric crowd.
