Florida State forward Baba Miller plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal while also testing the NBA Draft waters, per ESPN’s Jonathan Givony. Miller has spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career at Florida State.

This past season, Miller took a significant step forward, averaging 7.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 44.9% from the field. He played in all 33 games for the Seminoles this year and made 32 starts. For his efforts, he was named the 2023-24 ACC Breakout Player by College Hoops Today.

In his debut campaign at FSU, Miller made 15 appearances, including two starts. The 6-foot-11 Spaniard averaged 4.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per contest while shooting 47.4% from the floor.

Baba Miller played high school basketball in Madrid, Spain, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 88 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Florida State finished the 2023-24 season with a 17-16 record and a 10-10 mark in conference play. Miller will be the third player to enter the transfer portal for Florida State, joining Primo Spears and De’Ante Green.

Primo Spears hits the transfer portal

Spears is another particularly significant loss for the Seminoles. The junior had an impressive year for FSU, averaging 10.6 points per game this past season to finish third on the team in scoring. Spears appeared in 24 games, coming off the bench in all 24.

Prior to starting his college career, Spears attended Windsor High School. He averaged 20 points, 10 assists and 4.0 steals per game, before attending Mt. Zion Prep for a year. He averaged 21 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists during his one season with Mt. Zion.

From there, Primo Spears went to Duquesne, leading the Dukes in scoring with an average of 12.7 points per game. He started 28 of 30 games that season.

Spears then transferred to Georgetown for the 2022-23 campaign. He led the Hoyas in scoring that season, finishing with 16.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.

Primo Spears then entered the transfer portal once again, this time choosing to play for Leonard Hamilton and Florida State. Now, for the third time, Spears will look to take his talents elsewhere.
