The No. 6 seed Florida State Seminoles just keep rolling in the women’s ACC Tournament. The Seminoles ousted the No. 3 seed, the Syracuse Orange with ease on Friday, thanks to some big-time performances from O’Mariah Gordon, Ta’Niya Latson, and Makayla Timpson.

FSU led comfortably for much of the game, jumping out to a 12-point halftime lead and never relinquishing it the rest of the way. The ‘Noles took care of business with a 78-65 victory.

Ta’Niya Latson had plenty of praise for her teammates

Following the game, Ta’Niya Latson spoke with Angel Gray of the ACC Network.

“We just kept our foot on their necks,” Latson began. “That was the gameplan from the start. Just continue to be us. Get stops and execute.”

Latson exploded for 20 points in the second half after dealing with foul trouble in the first half. She only had five points at halftime. Latson finished with 25 points, before fouling out late in the second half.

What was different for her in the second half?

“Like I said. Just be me. Just getting to the basket. That was the gameplan. Just attacking them. Like I said, just be me. Get my teammates open and make the right plays,” Latson said.

Seminoles forward Makayla Timpson stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points and 13 rebounds, once again delivering when her team needed it the most. She’s now recorded back-to-back double-doubles in the 2024 ACC Tournament.

“She showed how tough she is. Like I said, she’s the best center in the league to me. And she’s a special talent. And I can’t wait to see what’s next for her,” Latson said.

Florida State displayed plenty of scoring balance in their dominant win, getting huge performances from their three stars. O’Mariah Gordon erupted for a career-high of 24 points in their ACC Quarterfinal victory.

“Like I said, we didn’t let up. And O’Mariah played well. She played her butt off today. I told her to keep going. We need that every game. We need that every game from everybody. Everybody’s pitching in. Doing what we have to do. And we’re staying together like a team,” Latson finished.

With the win, FSU advanced to the ACC Tournament Semifinals (Greensboro, North Carolina), where they’ll face off against the No. 2 seed, N.C. State Wolfpack. That game will be played on Saturday and will be televised on the ACC Network at 2:30 PM EST.

The other semifinal matchup will feature the No. 1 seed Virginia Tech Hokies against the No. 4 seed Notre Dame Fighting Irish. That game will be played at noon on Saturday on the ACC Network.
