Miami made a late run at Tyler Williams. Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes tried to keep the No. 53 prospect in the On300 home. But the four-star wideout felt Georgia was best for him.

Clemson, South Carolina, Texas A&M, and USF also had hats on the table but the decision came down to Georgia and Miami.

The No. 7 wide receiver in the country chose the Bulldogs.

“I already feel like part of the Georgia family,” Williams told On3. “When I was up at Georgia late in July, I knew I was going there. They treated me like I was already there and I have always felt like family at Georgia. Georgia is the place for me.”

The connection was strong between Williams and Georgia

Bryan McClendon was Georgia’s lead recruiter for Tyler Williams. Those two connected as soon as McClendon got to Athens.

“It started when B-Mac was at Miami,” Williams said. “He got on me there, then as soon as he went to Georgia, it got even stronger. He is a great coach and he can help me as a receiver, but he is like family.

“It is more than player-coach with me and B-Mac. I trust him. I can go to him with anything. Even if I would not have chosen Georgia, I know we still would have talked. It is just different with him. He was definitely part of my decision.”

It didn’t stop with McClendon though. Todd Monken and Kirby Smart were heavily involved as well.

“Look at coach Monken’s background and how he calls the games at Georgia,” Williams added. “He is smart. He is creative. Coach Monken was part of my decision too.

“Then you have coach Kirby Smart. He is a great guy that works hard and pushes his players. He is always going to have the team ready, he cares about his players, and he, coach Monken, and B-Mac made me a priority.”

Williams is ready to be a part of the Bulldogs offense

Through four games this season, Georgia is averaging just over 42 points per game. The offense has been explosive and that hasn’t been a surprise to Tyler Williams.

“Georgia throws the ball. Georgia spreads the ball out. The playmakers the ball. The Georgia offense is explosive and better than what people say,” Williams said. “Coach Monken is going to get the ball to the playmakers. Georgia throws it around and I am ready to be part of that.”

Williams is the third wide receiver to commit to the Bulldogs. They also have two top tight ends committed too. He is ready to join the talented group.

“The players play for each other at Georgia. They push each other. The coaches are great, the players have already welcomed me, and it is going to be great at Georgia,” he said.

Tyler Williams sees continued success at Georgia

Tyler Williams took his official visit in June. His first visit to Athens had came back in the spring and he returned in July. The next visit will be early next month when Georgia hosts Auburn.

He expects to see Georgia to make another run at a national title this season and in the coming years.

“Georgia will continue to have success,” Williams said. “Look at the quarterback room… look at the receiver room… look at the tight end room… The defense is always strong, so Georgia isn’t going anywhere.

“The offense is getting even better and I don’t see anything changing at Georgia.”

Now Williams is excited about being a part of that.

“When I told coach Kirby and B-Mac that I was coming, they were excited. They feel I can change the game at Georgia. They love what I can do at wide receiver. I really like the offense Georgia runs and now I can be one that helps the team make plays.”

The offense is playing well. The coaches connected with Williams. He feels like part of the family. Georgia has everything Williams is looking for.

“Georgia has it all,” Williams said. “It is a big family. The academics are strong. I love the coaches. The team plays for each other. I am excited about being part of the Georgia family.

“We are going to do something great. I am going to go there and try to be one of the best wide receivers in the county and one of the best wide receivers in Georgia history. I want to do great things for a great program.”
