Sometimes you have a weekend where everything goes your way, like Georgia Bulldogs punter Brett Thorson recently did. Thorson got to experience two major sports world highs over the weekend. The first was his Bulldogs’ squad dominating LSU in the SEC championship game 50-30, becoming SEC champs. The second was enjoying his home nation of Australia, defeating Argentina in the knockout round 1-0. with that kind of fortune, he couldn’t help but share it, trolling both LSU and the World Cup results simultaneously.

Although the Bulldogs did not have to call on Thorson much in the SEC championship game when his number was called, he delivered. The freshman punter from Melbourne punted the ball just four times in the game, averaging 51.8 yards per punt. Best of all, three of his four punts were downed inside of the 20-yard line.

With the victory against LSU, Georgia solidified their spot and the college football playoffs as the number one seed. Most importantly, Thorson and the Bulldogs captured the one title that eluded them in last season’s championship run. This year, Georgia has an opportunity at a complete sweep, winning the SEC championship, their CFP semifinal matchup, and winning it all to become back-to-back national champions. Winning the SEC and enjoying Australia advancing in the World Cup makes for a great weekend. But helping Georgia win back-to-back national championships and capturing the first of this college career could make a case for Thorson’s Greatest year of college.

Georgia opens as clear favorite over Ohio State in Peach Bowl

The College Football Playoff field of four was announced on Saturday. Georgia is No. 1 followed by Michigan, TCU, and Ohio State in that order. Betting lines are starting to trickle out and, as expected, the Bulldogs and Wolverines are betting favorites.

Georgia will take on No. 4 Ohio State in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl. Caesars Sportsbook has the Bulldogs as a seven-point favorite with an over/under point total currently at 61.5 points after opening at 60.5 points.

Michigan opened as the nine-point favorite over TCU but that has already moved to 9.5 points. Those two teams will play in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl.

Georgia will be back inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the third time this season. It opened the 2022 slate there and beat Oregon 49-3. The Bulldogs last game was there as well, a 50-30 SEC Championship win over LSU on Saturday. That win pushed Georgia to 13-0 for the first time in school history.
