Findlay (Ohio) four-star quarterback Ryan Montgomery has seen three SEC schools emerge in his recruitment — one of which is Georgia.

The Bulldogs are battling Florida and South Carolina for the 6-foot-2.5, 215-pounder. This weekend, Montgomery made his way back to Athens as Kirby Smart and Co. looked to make yet another impression.

Earlier this week, Montgomery sat down with On3’s Phillip Dukes to detail his interest in the trio of programs. He had this to say about the Dawgs:

“They’re the standard in college football now. Everybody is trying to get to where they’re at. Obviously back to back national championships. I know going there, I’m going to get developed to the NFL and that’s my ultimate goal. Going there under Coach Smart, he runs a great program. And it doesn’t matter they were back-to-back championships three years ago, their practice was the most intense I’ve ever seen. I know going there I’d compete against the best each a every day and that would only make me better. Coach Smart, Coach Bobo, I love a lot and would be super comfortable being around them for the next 3-5 years.”

Montgomery is set to visit both Florida and South Carolina in April as he nears a decision. Both the Gators and Gamecocks have had more momentum throughout 2024, but UGA can never be counted out of a recruiting battle. South Carolina recruiting insider Chris Clark logged a pick in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM)M in favor of SC earlier this month.

Montgomery is the No. 196 overall prospect and No. 14 gunslinger in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 9 player in Ohio.

Georgia Class Breakdown

The Bulldogs have five commitments early on in the cycle but already sit at No. 3 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Of Georgia’s five commitments, two project to the offensive side of the ball and three are expected to play defense at the next level. Five-star defensive lineman Justus Terry of Manchester (Ga.) ranks highest among the group, checking in at No. 8 nationally.

Along with Terry, tight end Elyiss Williams and linebacker Jadon Perlotte rank among the top 100 prospects in the country. And all five current commits hail from the Peach State, with an average distance from Athens of just 98.2 miles.
