The lawsuit involving the family of Georgia‘s Devin Willock following his tragic death in a car accident is now in question. A dispute has popped up between Willock’s mother and father over how to handle legal proceedings.

Dave Willock, the father of Devin Willock, sent a notice of intent to sue the school, seeking $2 million but the number could grow to over $30 million. However, the former Bulldogs player’s mother, Sharlene Willock, is challenging that claim, per The Athletic.

“The wrongful death claim is jointly held,” Sharlen Willock’s lawyer, Roy Willey IV said in a statement via The Athletic. “The estate claims will be asserted by the administrator appointed by the probate court acting in a fiduciary capacity with a duty to care to both Mr. And Ms. Willock. As such, the demand and resolution of these claims will, apparently to the disappointment of Mr. Willock and his lawyers, of necessity be the product of a cooperation and a joint effort between the parents who tragically lost this amazing son.”

Sharlene Willock entered a claim in Athens-Clarke County probate court in March to be the personal administrator of the estate claims, per The Athletic. The letter does not clearly state she will sue Georgia, but indicated she would like to reserve the right to do so in the future, per the report.

Dave Willock’s lawyers alleged that Chandler LeCroy, the Georgia recruiting analyst who also died in the accident, was served alcohol at a school function and was told to be working when she drove the car that was involved in the accident, despite what school statements read, per The Athletic.

Devin Willock, UGA staffer Chandler LeCroy pass away in fatal car accident

On Jan. 15, Willock and LeCroy died in a fatal car accident, just days after the Bulldogs won their second consecutive national championship. LeCroy was driving a 2021 Ford Expedition on Barnett Shoals Road before striking a pair of power poles.

There have been plenty of remembrances from people involved with the Georgia football program. Most recently, during G-Day, there was a delay of game penalty taken with the right guard position left empty to remember Willock.

During the 2022 national championship run in Athens, Willock played in all 15 games for Georiga. He started in two games during SEC play, coming against Kentucky and Tennessee. Willock played a major role in making the Bulldogs’ offense sail smoothly.

Two others were in the car as well, with fellow offensive lineman Warren McClendon and staffer Tory Bowles accompanying the duo. They both suffered injuries, with Bowles being considered serious and being transported to a nearby hospital.
