Georgia defensive backs coach Fran Brown has been one of the Bulldogs’ top recruiters over the past couple years, and he was a major reason why UGA got an early commitment from Five-Star Plus+ cornerback Ellis Robinson IV last winter.

On Tuesday, news broke that Brown would be taking the head coaching job at Syracuse, leaving questions about Robinson’s commitment status.

But the No. 3 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking doesn’t have plans to go anywhere but Athens.

“They have a great program,” he told On3 of the Bulldogs. “Coach Fran will always be my guy, but Georgia is where I want to be.”

Miami has remained in contact, but he has remained locked in

While Robinson has been committed to UGA since February, it hasn’t stopped other schools from working to flip him. The main one has been Miami, which hosted him in June for an official visit in Coral Gables.

He has been back to Miami for a game this fall, but also returned to Athens for the Missouri game. And he’s excited about playing with the rest of Georgia’s No. 1-ranked recruiting class.

“It’s always good to be home,” he said earlier this month. “The atmosphere of the game, seeing the coaches and just being around the guys were the highlights. It is always good to talk to the coaches. We talk football, life and school. Those guys are great and I can’t wait to play for them.”

Ellis Robinson IV Scouting Summary

On3’s Scouting and Rankings team writes this about him as a prospect:

“Ball-hawking cornerback with plus length, ball skills and refined movement skills. Has shown the ability to make high-level plays on the ball throughout his high school career. Measured close to 6-feet, 175 pounds prior to his senior season. Has plus length for the position with arms that measure a shade under 33 inches. Dominated competition in New York’s Catholic league as a sophomore, bringing in eight interceptions. Made several impressive, acrobatic picks. Moved to IMG Academy as a junior, where he looked like the top defensive back on the Ascenders’ loaded roster.

… Made strides as a junior relative to his technical skills. Pairs his length and ball skills with refined footwork. Understands routes and generally stays in phase. Embraces matchups against top receivers and is willing to get physical at the line of scrimmage. Also tests as a good athlete in the combine setting. While his speed is good, he does not register as elite for the position. Can continue getting stronger and adding good mass once in a college strength program.”
