New police video has been released revealing footage of former Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett‘s arrest in Dallas, Texas in January via TMZ. Bennett was arrested for public intoxication in the early morning on January 29, and the police footage reveals that Bennett was far from happy about the situation.

Bennett was training in Dallas for the NFL Draft, and around 6:15 a.m. a 911 caller said he had been yelling and knocking on her door and others, appearing to be ‘very’ intoxicated. The caller told dispatch he’d been around the area for about an hour or two that Bennett said, “I’m going to ruin your night if you don’t open the g**damn door.”

When cops arrived at Bennett, he appeared to not be very cooperative, taking a long time to comply and answer their questions. He claimed to police to be looking for former UGA teammate Owen Condon, as he didn’t seem to have his bearings correct, had another person’s ID on him, and reeked of alcohol according to the arresting officer.

Once Bennett was cuffed and in the back of the police car, he really let his frustration about his arrest show saying, “The door shut and somebody fell asleep, and now five million people gotta see it, don’t they? Thank you, boys, for looking out for me. You guys are the best.”

Bennett added, “Reputation ruined. Everything I worked for for 20 years, ruined. But ya’ll boys just looking out for me, aren’t ya? Thank you, sir.”

Bennett was arrested for public intoxication, entering a “sobering center” following the arrest before being released around 11 a.m.

Stetson Bennett releases first comments on public intoxication arrest in Dallas: ‘It was a mistake’

In January, Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett was arrested for public intoxication while he was in Dallas. Now, he has made his first public comments since that arrest.

As Bennett explained, he recognizes that he made a mistake that led to the arrest.

“It was a mistake that everybody is aware of,” Stetson Bennett said. “I understand why that can’t happen. I’ve talked to coaches about it, talked to GMs.”

“Apologized to my family. That’s who I felt the worst about. Felt like I let them down because no matter where I go now, and even without all this, I’ve got an obligation. I’m the fourth. Can’t do that if your last name is Bennett and I know better.”

According to the report, which was obtained by the Athens Banner-Herald, Stetson Bennett attempted to hide behind a brick wall. This, possibly, could have been to avoid the police officer’s attention.

The report also said that Bennett was taken to a sobering center and “if not arrested, could have potentially become a victim of a crime.”
