Four-star running back Roderick Robinson II of San Diego (Calif.) Lincoln High announced his commitment to Georgia Monday afternoon.

The 6-foot-1, 230 pounder flipped his commitment from UCLA. He had been committed to the Bruins since May.

Robinson on why he chose Georgia

“The tradition and family feel I got at Georgia is what made me choose them,” Robinson said. “They have a long list of backs that not only go to the NFL but are producing at high levels and are a contender almost every year. The way the players and coaches all bonded together really well too and I loved that about the program. It’s also a top academic school in the country so I think it provided me with the best opportunity to play football at a high level and get a great education. And it’s the SEC so you’re going to play the best competition every week and that just prepares you for the league as much as possible.”

Georgia visit and atmosphere

“Me and my family had a great time at the game,” Robinson said. “You can’t beat good football and good fans. So the game day experience was one of a kind and we loved the fact that it was almost sold out. And for the whole visit overall I loved every bit of it. How all of the coaches made an effort in my recruiting process and how they didn’t have to knock any other schools to get their point across. They just talked about what they could do for me and it was enough for me to commit.”

Strong relationship with coaching staff

“Coach Mcgee the running backs coach is who I’m closest with,” Robinson said. “He has been recruiting me really hard these last couple of months and even came out to see me play. He is a great coach and is always producing great backs so why not come play for him. And the whole coaching staff  is genuine and they all want what is truly best for each and every player so that’s why I liked the staff so much.”

Robinson ranks as the No. 246 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that accounts all four major recruiting services. He also tabs in as the No. 14 running back and the No. 17 player in the state of California.
