Blue Cain, a four-star shooting guard in the 2023 class, has announced his commitment to Georgia.

The 6-foot-4, 180-pound senior out of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy was originally signed with Georgia Tech, but reopened his recruitment after the university parted ways with Josh Pastner, the former head coach. After decommitting from the Yellow Jackets, Cain also considered Virginia, Penn State, and Florida.

Cain is the No. 70 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 12 shooting guard and the No. 7 senior recruit in Florida.

On3 is higher on him than other services though, tabbing him as the country’s No. 47 prospect, No. 9 shooting guard and No. 4 player in Florida.

UGA is revamping its roster heading into next season. The ‘Dawgs have now landed a total of seven commitments, three from the transfer portal and four from the high school ranks. Cain will join a strong freshman class, including four-star guard Silas Demary Jr. (No. 60), four-star power forward Dylan James (No. 90) and three-star wing Mari Jordan (No. 145). Georgia also hit the transfer portal hard this offseason, landing USF’s Russel Tchewa (11.1 PPG, 8.6 RPG), Illinois’ RJ Melendez (6.0 PPG), and VCU’s Jalen Deloach (9.7 PPG, 6.9 RPG).

The Georgia Bulldogs, led by Mike White, finished the 2022-23 season 11th in the SEC, with an overall record of 16-16.

Scouting Report

“Blue Cain has a smooth feel for the game. He plays at his own pace and doesn’t get rushed to get where he is going. Cain has a solid handle as a secondary ball-handler. He shows a confident pull-up jump shot in the half-court and consistent form in catch-and-shoot situations. You would like to see him continue getting stronger and play with more urgency at times, but he has feel on the ball, explosion at the rim, and does take contact well in the paint. Cain’s father, Chris, played golf at Duke, thus where his name Blue came.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
