Khani Rooths, a four-star small forward in the class of 2024, will take his first official visit to Georgia on June 1-3.

The 6-foot-8 junior prospect out of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy ranks as the No. 34 overall player in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking.

Rooths, a native of Washington D.C., recently spoke about the Dawgs, amongst other programs recruiting him in an interview with On3.

Rooths talks Georgia, others

“(Georgia) has been showing me the most love as of lately,” Rooths said. “They have a new coaching staff, and I know that last year’s team wasn’t really their players. They are basically telling me that I’m going to be their player, so I want to get down there and see what is going on.

“They are recruiting me really hard, really consistently. I know if I go there, I could probably be the guy. I know coach (Mike) White hasn’t been able to recruit his players there yet, just put together a roster with portal guys. So I’ll be watching this season to see what they got.”

Rooths has taken unofficial visits to Virginia Tech, Maryland, and Georgetown.

“I haven’t talked really with Georgetown and the new staff or really with Virginia Tech since Mike Jones left,” Rooths said previously.

Maryland: “I got a good relationship with the staff; it’s like family for me over there. They’re trying to change the culture, they’re getting a lot of DMV recruits, and top guys go there. I’m looking to see what they do this next year.

“Mike Jones recruited me at Virginia Tech, so he really wants me to come down there to Maryland with him.”

Timeline for a decision, what he’s looking for in a program

“I want to commit before my senior season,” Rooths said. “So I’m trying to gather all the information about all the schools in my recruitment so I can make that decision.”

“I’m going to be looking for a school that will put me on the floor real early, and that will give me the freedom to play my game. I fit a lot of different styles of play. I’ll iso or have plays run for me, and I can defend all over the court. I don’t think location will matter much for me, but we haven’t gotten into much west coast stuff yet.”

Scouting Report

“Khani Rooths has a lengthy basketball player’s looking frame; very projectable. He is very good in the iso-mid range. He has footwork and touch and an assortment of go-to moves at his disposal. Next up will be continuing to develop the counters. He will need to continue adding strength, which will help him finish more consistently in the paint. The jump shot is inconsistent, but the release isn’t bad. There are a lot of tools there and an athletic, projectable frame that creates a very high ceiling.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
