On Friday, Charlotte Providence Day Five-Star Plus+ offensive tackle David Sanders announced that he will be trimming his list of top schools to six on Saturday afternoon.

It remains to be seen who will make the cut, but one program that’s likely to see its logo next to Sanders’ name this weekend is Georgia. To no surprise, Kirby Smart and his staff have put the foot on the gas for the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle.

Sanders has been a frequent visitor in Athens and he’s consistently raved about his relationship with the Bulldogs. As he begins the next major phase of his recruitment, UGA appears to be one of the programs at the top for the 6-foot-5.5, 255-pounder.

“I think he’s been to Georgia more times than any other school the last three years. He’s a major, major target,” Georgia insider Rusty Mansell said on ‘The Inside Scoop’.

Bulldogs battling Clemson, Tennessee for Sanders

Clemson is another program that has garnered consistent traction with Sanders throughout his recruitment. The Tigers are close to Charlotte and have also had him on campus plenty. Another factor in favor of the ACC program could be new assistant Matt Luke — formerly of Georgia.

“Ironically, the first person that really recruited him was Matt Luke for Georgia. Guess where Matt Luke is now? He’s at Clemson a couple years later. Really, I think behind the scenes this is a Georgia-Clemson battle,” Mansell said.

Tennessee is another team that’s made an impression on Sanders. With the Volunteers also likely to make the cut for Sanders’ top schools, Josh Heupel and Co. could be another staff to watch down the stretch as the spring recruiting period approaches.

“I think David Sanders is genuinely intrigued by Georgia, but I think Tennessee and Clemson have positioned themselves the best heading into a big slate of spring visits and then summertime official visits,” Tennessee insider Matt Ray said last month.

Georgia is currently trending for Sanders in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine by a small margin. Upcoming visits could tell the tale as the Bulldogs charge to once again sit atop the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

“One of those premier offensive tackles,” Mansell said. “You see him in person and you go ‘oh my God, that kid’s still in high school?’ He’s still got another year to play. Major target for the UGA staff at offensive tackle.”

David Sanders Recruiting Profile

Sanders is the No. 2 overall prospect and top-ranked offensive tackle in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power writes this about him as a prospect:

“David Sanders is a twitchy, explosive jumbo athlete who looks like one of the top offensive tackles in the 2025 cycle early on. A two-way star for Providence Christian in Charlotte as an offensive tackle and defensive lineman. Has a tall, lean frame, measuring in at around 6-foot-5.5, 250 pounds. Registers as a top athlete, excelling in the combine setting. Transfers that athleticism over to the field. An electric mover for an underclassman offensive line prospect. Explodes to the second level and moves effortlessly in space. Plays much stronger than his lighter weight would suggest.

…Has developed upper body and core strength to plant defenders into the ground. Flashes some dominant tendencies as a drive blocker and finisher. Runs his feet on contact and plays with some nastiness. Relatively advanced technically. Also shows off his athleticism as a defensive lineman. Would be an easy Power 5 prospect on that side of the ball.”
