Savannah (Ga.) Savannah Christian Prep Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman Elijah Griffin is the nation’s No. 3 overall prospect and top defensive lineman in the 2025 cycle. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the in-state ‘Dawgs are the favorite to land Griffin’s commitment.

Georgia recruiting insider Jake Rowe joined The Inside Scoop football recruiting show to discuss Griffin’s recruitment. According to Rowe, Clemson appears to be the program providing the biggest competition for Griffin.

“Looks like Clemson right now,” Rowe said. “Georgia is in good shape, I don’t think there’s any doubt that. Georgia has been in good shape for a while. But we all know we’re in the day and age where being in good shape for a while [means about as much as] a dollar and a quarter will get you a cup. Georgia does have to close this deal, but it’s not going to be over until he signs. And nobody is giving up on a prospect like this.

“I’ll tell you what though, it has been a long, long time since I liked a defensive lineman in the state of Georgia more than I like Elijah Griffin,” Rowe continued. “He’s 6-foot-5, 285 pounds and there’s some raw tools there. Derrick Brown comes to mind. … Elijah Griffin is elite, and I think Georgia really needs to land him in this class. He’s the kind of guy that when you talk about putting together teams to win titles, that’s the kind of guy you need to have on the defensive line.

“I do think Georgia is in tremendous shape, especially after this past weekend, where I think the Bulldogs may have put some distance between themselves and the rest of the field.”

Georgia working to flip Chris Ewald

Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep 2025 four-star cornerback Chris Ewald was on campus in Athens when the ‘Dawgs announced the hiring of former Alabama cornerbacks coach Travaris Robinson.

“Georgia did kind of shake things up for him,” Rowe said. “Obviously getting him on campus is huge, right? That’s step one, but when you can bounce in and add a guy like Travaris Robinson — when you can kind of put that trio of guys in his line of sight there with Donte Williams, with T-Rob, with Will Muschamp remaining on staff. I definitely think Georgia kind of got his attention there.

“Listen, Michigan won a national championship doing phenomenal things. But you can tell that Georgia just really likes this kid. He doesn’t really fit the specific mold that they love at DB, but they’re all over him. I think you can tell that they like them a lot, and he likes them a lot to be on campus to begin with. I think this definitely gets his attention.”
