Georgia linebacker Chaz Chambliss was ejected late in the fourth quarter of the Orange Bowl against Michigan for targeting. Per NCAA rules, since the ejection occurred in the second half he will also be required to miss the first half of the national championship game against Alabama.

Two plays after the Georgia linebacker was ejected for targeting, the Wolverines scored their first touchdown of the game. JJ McCarthy completed a 35-yard pass to Andrel Anthony for a touchdown to cut the Georgia lead to 34-11.

Unfortunately for Michigan, that would end up as the final score as the Bulldogs punched their ticket to the College Football Playoff Championship.

A native of Carrollton, Georgia, Chambliss is in his first season with the Bulldogs. He came in as a four-star and the No. 375 overall player in the 2021 class according to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The freshman has spent all of 2021 in a reserve role, recording 10 tackles and 0.5 sacks. His best game of the season came against Georgia Tech, when he finished with two solo tackles.

The Bulldogs defense dominated all evening long, finishing with four sacks and two interceptions. They also held the Wolverines without a touchdown until there was less than five minutes remaining in the game.

The victory sets up a rematch of the SEC Championship Game after Alabama defeated Cincinnati earlier in the day. The Crimson Tide won the first meeting, 41-17 as the Bulldogs suffered their first loss of the season. It was also the most points they have given up in 2021.

There is no doubt that loss will be fresh on the minds of the Georgia defense as the Bulldogs seek their revenge. Kickoff for the national championship game is set for 8 p.m. ET on Jan. 10.
