As one Uga slips out of the collar, another steps right in. Today’s G-Day football scrimmage will feature the first official look at new live Georgia mascot Uga XI as he will be sworn in as the new Georgia Bulldog following the recent retirement of Uga X, who was renowned as a great and extremely successful pup given the school’s recent achievements on the football field.

Fans can check out the team’s new pet “dawg” right below as he prepares to greet the masses under the “Uga” title for the very first time this afternoon:

Here was the school’s initial announcement of the mascot change and upcoming ceremony, as posted on their athletics website:

“The University of Georgia will introduce Boom, the 10-month-old English Bulldog, as Uga XI during pregame ceremonies at the upcoming G-Day Game on Saturday. The ceremonial collaring of Boom will start with eight minutes on the pregame clock at approximately 3:50 p.m. and will take place on the 20-yard line, northeast corner of Sanford Stadium. Fans are encouraged to find their seats early to watch the ceremony. The new mascot will succeed Uga X, affectionately known as Que, who will retire as the winningest mascot in Georgia history.”

Not bad to ride into the sunset after serving as mascot for two straight national championships. The new Uga has a massive collar to fill. After all, Uga X, or “Que,” did in fact finish as the winningest among all of his previous namesakes.

For more on the special ole pup who has just retired, you can read some of his lore below:

“Que was two and half years old when he began his reign as Georgia’s beloved mascot in 2015. He compiled an impressive 91-18 record, which included back-to-back College Football Playoff National Championships, two SEC titles and victories in the Rose, Sugar, Orange and Peach bowls.

“Uga X joined ‘Seiler’s Uga Three’ as the only two Bulldogs in Georgia history to win a national championship and passed Uga VI, who reigned from 1999-2008, as the winningest Bulldog in Georgia lore.”

That’s a heck an animal.
