The Georgia Bulldogs were showered with confetti over a month ago after defeating Alabama 33-18 in the College Football National Championship. Many of Georgia’s players are still soaking in and enjoying the victory and it’s hard to blame them. It was the biggest win in program history and the Bulldogs won in an extremely hard-fought contest. Their second team All-American left tackle, Jamaree Salyer, made a post on Thursday afternoon to his Twitter page.

It’s hard to blame Salyer for enjoying the national championship over a month after it happened. Winning a national championship in big-time college football is no easy accomplishment. It’s one of the most difficult accomplishments in all of sports.

Especially since the Bulldogs defeated a tough Alabama team in the national championship, winning the rematch of the SEC Championship made the win that much sweeter. Not only did Salyer and the Bulldogs offensive line win a national crown, but they also made themselves a lot of money with their impressive performances in the College Football Playoffs against Michigan and Alabama.

As Georgia’s head coach Kirby Smart noted after the game when speaking with ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt, the best team doesn’t always win the big games. It’s the team that plays the best on a given day. Luckily for the Bulldogs and their fans, they played well when it counted the most and they were rewarded for it.

The Georgia offensive line had a different attitude in the second half of the national championship game, and it showed. They were able to get a push up front on the Crimson Tide front seven and dominated late in the fourth quarter, when it mattered the most.

Georgia bumps the pay of offensive coordinator Todd Monken

One thing the Bulldogs‘ athletic administration wanted to make sure of this off-season: to make sure they locked up their talented offensive coordinator, Todd Monken. Georgia’s offensive coordinator received a salary bump of $1.25 million, up from $1 million, per a UGA response to an open records request. Seth Emerson of The Athletic reported the news via his Twitter page on Wednesday evening. There was no information as to whether or not the new pay raise was due to a new contract or simply an increase in salary. This season, Monken is set to enter the third year of his three-year contract he signed when he originally joined the Georgia coaching staff.
