The Georgia Swim and Dive team made a tribute to Chandler LeCroy and Devin Willock at their meet on Saturday. LeCroy, who graduated from UGA, tragically passed away a few weeks ago in a car accident along with Willock, a Georgia football player, shortly after the Bulldogs’ national title victory.

The Georgia Athletics Family is mourning their deaths, and the Swim and Dive team found away to honor the two. The swimmers and divers each have a “77” and “CL” on the front or back of one of their shoulders. The “77” representing Willock, because that was his football number. And “CL” because those are Chandler LeCroy’s initials.

The UGA Swim and Dive team has tweeted a pick of their athletes wearing the symbols and the football account responded with a sign of appreciation. Take a look:

Kirby Smart’s statement

Kirby Smart released a statement following the tragic death of both Georgia offensive lineman Devin Willock and recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy.

The 20-year old offensive lineman for the Bulldogs and the staff member both passed away following a car accident, the school announced.

The statement was shared to Twitter by Smart, where he made sure to point out how of an undeniable impact both Willock and LeCroy had on the Bulldogs.

“We are all heartbroken and devastated with the loss of Devin Willock and Chandler LeCroy,” began Smart. “Devin was an outstanding young man in every way and was always smiling. He was a great teammate and a joy to coach. Chandler was a valuable member of our football staff and brought an incredible attitude and energy every single day.

“We grieve with their families for this tragic loss and will support them in every way possible.”

Kind words from head coach Kirby Smart in a very tough situation.
