Jacob Wilkins, son of Dominique, sets official visit to Georgia
Jacob Wilkins, On3’s No. 22 overall player in the 2025 class, will take an official visit to Georgia beginning October 26th.
Wilkins, a 6-foot-8 small forward out of Grayson (Ga.) High, is the son of former Georgia Bulldog and NBA Hall-of-Famer Dominique Wilkins.
The following is a short list of Dominique’s accolades: McDonald’s All-American, SEC Player of the Year (1981), 2x NBA Slam Dunk Champion, NBA scoring champion, 9x NBA All Star, and the list goes on.
After 12 seasons playing for the Atlanta Hawks, the team retired his No. 21 jersey. Since 2004, Dominique has served as the Hawks’ Vice President of Basketball.

In a previous interview with On3, Wilkins went in-depth on his game.
“I’d describe myself as a three-level scorer,” Wilkins told On3. “I feel like I shoot the three ball well, I can knock down the mid-range, and I can play above the rim. I’m also a good shot blocker. I watch a lot of Brandon Ingram; his ball handling and his ability to take his defender off the dribble is what I love about his game.”
With his father attending the program and growing up in the state of Georgia, Wilkins has familiarity with the Bulldogs.
“I know their program is good, and they put players in good situations,” Jacob said. “They have good off the court relationships with their players. They like how my skillset fits what they’re trying to do and how I can play inside and out.”
This won’t be Wilkins first time visiting UGA either, as he unofficially visited the school in Sept. of 2022.
Jacob’s father, Dominique, had already retired before he was born. But he’s seen highlights of his dad play.
“I’ve seen highlights of my dad for sure. We both can jump out of the gym and are threats in transition. He’s helped me focus on making sure everything I do is one hundred percent. There was some pressure to live up to the Wilkins name when I was younger, but as I got older, I’ve gotten used to it.”
Jacob’s familiarity with another program
Georgia isn’t the only program with a unique tie to Jacob Wilkins.
Virginia, who hosted him on campus for an official visit earlier this month, is also strongly in the mix. Jacob’s older brother, Isaiah, played for the Cavaliers from 2015-18. He’s now an assistant coach at his alma mater, serving under Tony Bennett.
Along with Georgia and Virginia, Jacob Wikins has received offers from Alabama, Indiana, and Cincinnati.
