Kirby Smart comes away from Georgia-Kentucky impressed by Bulldog offense | Georgia Football

Head coach Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs came into the game against Kentucky like a wrecking ball. That was the goal for Smart in practice this week and it’s one that the Bulldogs were able to meet during the game against the Wildcats.

It worked and Georgia won the game 51-13. One reporter noted Smart used the term “wrecking ball” and began a question by noting that they are thinking of Miley Cyrus because of how much he used it.

“I don’t know who Miley Cyrus is,” Kirby Smart said while being drowned out by laughter in the room. “What does she have to do with wrecking ball?”

The reporter asking the question explained that it’s a song that Cyrus sings. Another reporter said it was worth a Google Search for Smart.

“I know Eric Church wrecking ball,” Smart offered, not seeming to realize that the songs are fairly different. Meanwhile, the reporter tried to ask their question about what specifically he was going for when he was talking about a wrecking ball earlier.

“Force equals mass times acceleration,” Kirby Smart clarified. “So, we wanted a lot of mass. What is a lot of mass? More hats. What is acceleration? More speed. And we wanted that going into them and we wanted to do it connected. We wanted to be connected in our physicality and we showed videos of a wrecking ball. It was just a big ball hitting a building. I mean, knocking it down. Each week, each day in the meeting it got bigger, and bigger, and bigger, and bigger, and we wanted to be the wrecking ball.”

Evidently, Kirby Smart knows the music he likes and has no idea about the music he doesn’t like, regardless of how popular the song or performer is. Clearly, things are working out for him, with the Bulldogs moving to 6-0 on the season.

Kirby Smart has a message for Georgia’s critics

With several slow starts to games in the first half of the season and a relatively easy non-conference slate, there has been some criticism of Georgia despite winning back-to-back national champions and being the top-ranked team in the country. However, Kirby Smart isn’t worried about any of them.

“I don’t say anything to them – I’m worried about our performance. I didn’t say anything when we didn’t look well, I’m not going to say anything now,” Smart said.

“I’m really concerned with what we can do from this game to get better for the next one because we want to be elite at getting better. I don’t care, I don’t care (about being No. 1). I want to be the number one team at the end of the year. The goal to get there is to get better. I could care less where everybody ranks us.”
