Georgia suffered a potentially significant addition to the injury update on defense in a win over Ball State, with safety Javon Bullard leaving the game with an ankle injury early in the game.

He did not return.

Bullard was spotted on the sidelines wearing a walking boot during the second half, donning street clothes instead of his typical jersey attire. Coach Kirby Smart opened up on the injury after the game.

“He has an ankle sprain,” Smart said. “The severity of it I do not know. Obviously he did not return.”

One of the players who stepped in and filled in for Bullard after he landed on the injury update was junior David Daniel-Sisavanh. Smart seemed to think he fared fairly well on an initial watch of the game.

“They both did some good things,” Smart said. “They practice every day, they go with the twos and ones and roll in there.”

Another injury Georgia suffered during the game was to defensive lineman Christen Miller. It wasn’t entirely clear what Miller hurt, and Smart wasn’t able to provide much additional clarity after the game.

“I don’t know, I didn’t ever find that out,” Smart said. “I went to go and check and never heard. Thought it was his knee, but I don’t know if it was cramping or his knee.”

Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins shut down for now

One player that Georgia hasn’t had available of late is defensive lineman Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins. Smart was asked about him after the game and was able to give an injury update.

Essentially he hasn’t been cleared right now.

“He’s dealing with a foot injury the entire fall camp, so we shut him down I think it was two weeks before camp, then probably three weeks into camp,” Smart said. “I don’t know how long it was, four or five (weeks), that he didn’t get to do a lot. He came back and he was functioning good, he felt good. He felt it a little bit in last week’s game and we’ve been advised to shut him down right now, and he’ll be week to week. We hope to get him back.”

Ingram-Dawkins was a reserve defensive lineman last year, appearing in 14 of the team’s 15 games. He logged 10 tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss and recovered a fumble.
