Much like it did the first time around he committed in August, it came down to the wire for Buford (Ga.) Five-Star Plus+ safety KJ Bolden.

After committing to Florida State over Auburn and Georgia four months ago, Bolden is a Bulldog. The nation’s No. 1 safety has flipped his commitment from the Seminoles to home-state Georgia in a massive victory for Kirby Smart and his staff.

The 6-foot-0, 180-pounder is the No. 13 overall prospect 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 2 player in Georgia.

No other school has hosted Bolden as many times as the nearby Bulldogs have. He’s been to Athens more than a dozen times, including a couple of visits this fall.

Those visits and bonds he built in Athens confirmed to Bolden that staying home was the best option in the end.

“At Georgia, I can go there and be a hometown hero,” he previously told On3. “I get to play for a school close to home with great players and be developed by top coaches.”
