This year the transfer portal in college football has been used more than any other time. With players opting to use it left and right, there’s a good chance some moves will ruffle a few feathers. And that is exactly what happened when former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Jermaine Burton left for heated SEC rival the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Former Georgia and current Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman was vexed by the move and took to his Instagram account to air out his confusion. Hardman posted this picture with two simple questions attached to it.

“How you go to the team we just beat? And leave a team you won the natty with?”

Burton announced he would be transferring to Alabama on Sunday afternoon. After being on the winning side of the national championship during the 2021 season, Burton will now be trying to get revenge on his former team with the Crimson Tide.

According to the On3 Transfer Rankings, Burton is ranked as the No. 5 player currently in the NCAA Transfer Portal in the current cycle.

Alabama and Georgia don’t play each other in the regular season next year, and it is rare in football that they do so. But if both teams repeat as division champions and face off in the SEC championship game again, Burton move adds sprinkles to an already exciting game.

New Ranking: No. 2 (Previously ranked No. 4)

Williams, an early enrollee and expected participant in spring practice with the Bulldogs come March, now comes in as the highest ranked Georgia player after a strong showing at the Adidas All-American Bowl. He had three tackles for loss for the East team to go along with his 81 tackles including 20.5 for loss and 12.5 sacks during his senior season. Williams was recently named National Defensive High School Player of the Year by the Maxwell Football Club.

Malaki Starks (S)

New Ranking: No. 21 (Previously ranked No. 10)

Georgia’s highest ranked player according to the On3 Consensus Rankings, Starks is seen across the industry as a player that can do it all. He’s listed as a safety but also played on offense for Jefferson High School. Expected to play defensive back in college, Starks could be a fixture in the Bulldogs’ secondary rotation next fall…
