When Georgia found itself down big against Florida, they were still able to put up a fight and get the game back to overtime. An incredible 51 points were scored in the second half. Unfortunately for Mike White, his team wound up falling a little short, losing by four points.

Looking at the box score, one of the biggest discrepancies was in the rebounding department. Florida had 48 rebounds and bested Georgia by 19 boards. Looking at the offensive rebounds, the Gators doubled their rivals up, finishing with 16.

White addressed Georgia getting outmatched, saying there was not anything they could have done. Florida is efficient on the glass, especially on the offensive end. The effort was there in White’s opinion and they just lost out to the Gators’ strength.

“Huge deficiency there,” White said. “But they’re big. It’s not like we did a poor job with throwing our bodies around and playing with physicality. I mean, our guys fought. But Florida is one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the country. They pursue it. They’ve got depth with their offensive rebounding. They’ve got size, length, and of course, athleticism. Obviously, the emphasize it and they capitalize.”

Florida is not one of the best rebounding teams in the country as White mentioned. Heading into Saturday’s game, they were the best rebounding team in the country, averaging 44.5 per game. Their total will wind up going up after the 48 against Georgia.

From an offensive rebounding standpoint, the Gators are No. 2 in the country with an average of 16.3 per game. Clearly, it’s a point of emphasis for head coach Todd Golden this season.

Georgia heading into Alabama game hoping to rebound better

Whenever a team has a rough night in one area, a coach will attempt to fix things moving forward. Alabama will be next up on Georgia’s schedule, with White having multiple days to get his players on the practice court. Rebounding will likely be discussed, even if the Crimson Tide are not at Florida’s level.

Alabama will be the one heading to Athens but is one of the hottest teams in the country. They will enter the contest at least tied for first place in the SEC, with their lone loss of the season being to Tennessee.

Winning road games in the SEC is difficult though, especially with the type of team White will put out there on Wednesday. Georgia is 11-1 in front of the home crowd this year, falling similarly to Alabama against Tennessee.
