CJ Allen was planning to announce his commitment in July, but the No. 88 prospect in the On300 couldn’t wait.

“Now is the time,” Allen told On3. “I just feel it in my heart. Georgia is home. It feels like home. I have committed to Georgia.

Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs beat out Auburn and Tennessee for the 6-foot, 226-pound four-star out of Barnesville (Ga.) Lamar County. He took his time, he waited for the right time, and he got that feeling today.

“I called coach Schu (Glenn Schumann) first, then I talked to coach Smart. I told them both that I was ready to be a bulldog. They welcomed me, they always wanted me, and it was a great feeling to commit to Georgia.”

Allen got that feeling when he was in Athens on his official visit earlier this month. He went into the visit with Georgia high on his list, but left knowing that he was ready to call Athens home.

“My official visit made a big difference. I had been there a lot, but being around the people like that, it was different.

“Georgia is family. It is like family there. From being around the coaches to being around the players, it is like family for me at Georgia. The way I vibe with the players, how I fit in with everyone, made it the perfect place for me.”

Allen is excited about being able to call himself a Georgia Bulldog

Allen is excited about putting his recruitment behind him. He is done with the process, he is committed to the home-state school, and he is excited about what his future holds as a Georgia Bulldog.

“I have a great relationship with coach Smart, my connection with Schu is getting deeper and deeper, and I am getting to stay home and represent my home state,” Allen said. “This commitment means a lot to me. It is a great feeling.

“Georgia has great people everywhere around the program. From the past, present, and future, Georgia has the people that I want to be around.

“Everyone there is family, I get to play in a historical defense, and I can now say I get to stay home and play for the Georgia Bulldogs.”
