No offense enjoyed facing off against Georgia‘s defense during the 2021 national championship-winning season. SEC programs struggled mightily against the Bulldogs but arguably, nobody got it worse than Georgia Tech at the end of the regular season. One of three shutouts recorded for Kirby Smart‘s team, former Yellow Jacket players are still discussing the game.

Georgia Tech played host in Atlanta on Thanksgiving weekend, getting beat 45-0. Former quarterback Jordan Yates decided to discuss how good the Georgia defense was. From meetings to the beginning of the week until the final whistle, Yates knew his opponent was top-tier.

Soon-to-be top-five NFL Draft pick Jalen Carter apparently had some fun with Yates, dishing out some of the most incredible trash talk of all time. While Yates admits he is not a fan of Georgia, he gave out his respect to their defense that season.

Yates is not the only one to face the wrath of Smart’s 2021. Alabama was the only offense to find success, scoring 41 in the SEC Championship. The Crimson Tide have the second-highest point total of the year as well, grabbing 18 in the national championship.

Next highest on the list was Tennessee with 17. After that, nobody got higher than 13 points with six different offenses scoring in the single digits. To no surprise, Georgia finished first in scoring defense at 10.2 points per game.

Take out the SEC Championship and they are sitting at 8.0. The 2021 Georgia defense is undoubted of the best units in college football history.

Clean Old Fashioned Hate runs deep in the state of Georgia. Even though the rivalry has not been too competitive in the Kirby Smart era, there is still a strong disliking between the two programs. For somebody like Yates, who transferred out and headed to Sam Houston State, you can tell the rivalry game still resonates with him.
