Timpson (Texas) High School five-star athlete and Texas A&M commit Terry Bussey sits as one of just three unsigned five-stars in the 2024 class, alongside Alabama wide receiver commit Ryan Williams and LSU defensive line commit Dominick McKinley.

Of the three though, Bussey’s commitment remains the most in doubt. The top-ranked athlete in the On300 for the 2024 class, he has been committed in-state to the Aggies since September 28. But after the program dismissed head coach Jimbo Fisher, Bussey elected to delay signing until National Signing Day in February.

That gives the nation’s No. 20 overall player more time to make a few visits before putting the pen to paper. Bussey locked in those visits dates earlier this month, telling On3’s Sam Spiegelman he will be at Georgia this weekend, with LSU on January 31 and with Texas A&M on February 2. After that, he will sign on February 7.

Georgia looking to make a move with Bussey

Despite all the changes in College Station, Bussey has remained commitment. The Bulldogs and Tigers are going to make it as hard as they can for the Aggies to keep him, though.

New Georgia defensive backs coach an co-defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson was courting the elite playmaker while at Alabama. Donte Williams was doing the same at USC and made a call to Bussey while on the plane from Los Angeles over to Athens.

The Bulldogs haven’t been in pursuit of Bussey as long as the Tigers and Aggies but will look up to make up ground this weekend on his visit.

“They’re great people. They know a lot about the ball, and they know a lot about putting guys in the league and developing guys,” Bussey added during the Polynesian Bowl media session earlier this month. “Just building a relationship and taking a piece from them every time we talk is big.”

LSU, Texas A&M have been involved for his entire recruitment

LSU has been a mainstay in Bussey’s recruitment since visiting Baton Rouge over the summer.

He took an official visit there in June and will return to get another look at the Tigers later this month. That includes a chance to sit down with secondary coach Corey Raymond, who was on the Florida staff that was recruiting Bussey as well.

“They’ve been pushing and they’re still pushing,” he said of the Tigers. “We have a great relationship and I talk to them every day. I talk to multiple people on that staff every day and it’s been great building a relationship with them.”

New Texas A&M coach Mike Elko, defensive backs coach Ishmael Aristide and the Aggies are making Bussey a priority and will get Bussey in town last before he inks on the dotted line.

“I’ve been getting to know the new staff. It’s been great building a relationship with Coach Elko, Coach Ish, and I’m building relationships with other coaches they already have on staff. They’re great guys, great people, they know a lot about football and they’re great football-minded people.”
