The 2023 high school football season is right around the corner, meaning it is time for preseason accolades to be doled out to some of the top prospects in the nation. On Monday, MaxPreps released its 2023 Preseason All-America team.

To no surprise, it’s the Georgia Bulldogs that boast the most commitments featured on the team with five. Three of those UGA pledges featured are first-team selections, which is also the most of any program.

Headlining the first team for Kirby Smart‘s class is New Haven (Conn.) IMG Academy five-star cornerback Ellis Robinson IV. The 6-foot, 175-pounder, who committed to Georgia on Feb. 1, is the No. 11 overall prospect and No. 1 CB in the 2024 cycle, per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 player currently in Florida, as he awaits his senior season at IMG in Bradenton.

In the trenches, Roswell (Ga.) Walton four-star interior offensive lineman Daniel Calhoun was one of five O-linemen to get a nod. Ranked as the No. 129 overall prospect, No. 6 IOL and No. 19 player from Georgia in the cycle, Calhoun towers at 6-foot-6, 370 pounds. He was one of six players to commit to UGA during July, pledging to stay home on July 5.

Rounding out the first-team picks on special teams is Mediapolis (Iowa) three-star punter Drew Miller, the No. 1 punter in the cycle and No. 16 player from the Hawkeye State. The Bulldogs locked down his commitment in May, as he chose to head South rather than stay home to play for Iowa or Iowa State, both of whom were recruiting him heavily, along with Michigan.

Five-Star Plus+ talent rounds out second-team selections

Coincidentally, the two highest-ranked players in Georgia’s No. 1 class in the country — per the On3 Industry Football Team Recruiting Rankings — are the two Bulldog commits featured in MaxPreps’ second-team selections: Buford (Ga.) Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Dylan Raiola and Conroe (Texas) Oak Ridge Five-Star Plus+ linebacker Justin Williams.

Raiola is the No. 2 overall prospect in the class and is one of three Buford players to make the team, along with Five-Star Plus+ safety and Florida State commit KJ Bolden, as well as five-star defensive lineman Eddrick Houston. Williams is the No. 9 player, No. 1 LB and No. 3 player from Texas in the cycle.

Georgia remains in firm control of the No. 1 class in the country, ahead of Ohio State, Florida, Alabama and Florida State. The Bulldogs currently have 26 total commits, three of whom are five-stars, while 17 are four-stars, good for a blue-chip percentage of 77%. Eight different commits are top-100 prospects, while 15 are top-150.
