Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha Catholic four-star running back Tovani Mizell announced his decommitment from Georgia on Wednesday night. He was previously pledged to the Bulldogs since Aug. 8.

Mizell is the No. 233 overall prospect and No. 19 running back in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 8 player in Maryland.

“I would like to announce that I will be decommitting from the University of Georgia,” Mizell wrote in a statement published on Twitter. “My recruitment is now 100% open.”

The 6-foot-1, 193-pound tailback visited Oklahoma last weekend. He told On3’s Chad Simmons on Nov. 9 that multiple Sooners coaches are pushing hard for his pledge.

Mizell, who attended Oklahoma’s game against Kansas during the season, spoke with head coach Brent Venables for 20 minutes while on the visit. His lead recruiter from the Sooners is running backs coach DeMarco Murray.

“We’ve been talking for a long time, even before he offered me,” Mizell said. “The relationship between me and him is very strong.”

Meanwhile, Tennessee is another school making an impact in Mizell’s recruitment. He has not visited Knoxville yet, but has good relationships with some of the Volunteers’ staffers.

“I just love the coaching staff over there,” Mizell said. “They’re building something. They’re looking very good this year.”

Mizell has an On3 NIL Valuation of $77K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
