Marietta (Ga.) Kell three-star safety Cedric Franklin has committed to Georgia Tech.

He chose the Yellow Jackets just three days following his decommitment from the Virginia Cavaliers. The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder has taken multiple trips to Atlanta and the in-state school.

Franklin is the No. 144 safety and No. 162 player in Georgia in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s the No. 1455 overall recruit.

Franklin does not currently have an On3 NIL Valuation. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Georgia Tech building top-40 recruiting class

The addition of Franklin makes 26 commitments overall for Brent Key and the Yellow Jackets. The class ranks No. 36 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking.

Georgia Tech’s class features three four-star commitments: Charleston (S.C.) Phillip Simmons High CB Troy Stevenson, Hoschton (Ga.) Mill Creek CB Trajen Greco and Warner Robins (Ga.) wide receiver Isaiah Canion. All three prospects rank inside the top 300 of the On3 Industry Ranking.

Other top commitments in the class include: New Orleans Holy Cross three-star WR Koby Young, Taylors (S.C.) Riverside three-star defensive lineman Marcus Downs, Hiram (Ga.) three-star interior offensive lineman Jameson Riggs, Rabun Gap (Ga.) Nacoochee School three-star athlete Trey Horne and Bogart (Ga.) Prince Avenue Christian three-star quarterback Aaron Philo.

Philo is the No. 726 overall prospect and No. 45 QB in the 2024 cycle. He was originally committed to Minnesota, but backed off that pledge and committed to the Yellow Jackets on May 11.

“In recruiting all it takes is one guy to believe in you, and they believed in me from the start,” Philo told On3 upon his commitment. “That means a lot when some other people haven’t believed in me. They’ve believed in me from the start. That shows a lot of who they are and how much they believe in me. Now, I’ve just got to go in there and be a leader.”

Georgia Tech’s class also ranks No. 8 in the ACC. The Yellow Jackets remain ahead of the likes of Duke, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, Louisville and Syracuse in-conference.
