Georgia Tech has found its form on the recruiting trail this summer as official visit season picked up.

As we shift into July, the Yellow Jackets have struck — again — in the state of Louisiana. Georgia Tech’s latest commitment comes in the form of three-star New Orleans (La.) St. Augustine safety Christian Pritchett, who took an official visit to Atlanta two weeks ago (June 16-18 weekend).

After sitting on his decision for a few days, Pritchett went public with his pledge to Georgia Tech, which was an easy decision for the 6-foot-2, 180-pounder from The Boot.

“Georgia Tech is the perfect fit for me because it sets me up life for me after football,” Pritchett told On3. “Football doesn’t last forever … I want to be a part of the turnaround that GeorgiaTech has planned with the new head coach Brent Key — he is doing all he can for the players to become the best version of themselves whether it’s on the field or in their career fields.”

Pritchett was a top target for Yellow Jackets special teams coordinator Ricky Brumfield, a native of New Orleans, who took a lead role in courting the long, rangy safety to the Peach State.

The Louisiana defender clocked a 4.61-second 40 while camping for Georgia Tech and starts on St. Aug’s defense and various special teams units.

“I love the way Coach Brum embraces the special teams part of the game,” Pritchett acclaimed. “I’m a special teams type of guy. When I saw Coach Brum actually breaking down how special teams controls the game, I was very interested. I’m excited because he brings energy to whatever he does.”

Pritchett commits to Georgia Tech over the likes of Duke, Vanderbilt, Indiana and Louisiana-Lafayette. The Yellow Jackets’ top-35 recruiting class features three from The Boot — including Koby Young, Tah’J Butler, and now, Pritchett.

The decision hit Pritchett while on his official visit — alongside Butler — another defender from the New Orleans area. It boiled down to the approach taken by multiple members of the Georgia Tech coaching staff, including the head coach.

“Georgia Tech wasn’t all about being flashy, which I really enjoyed. Everything was legitimate, he said. “My family and I enjoyed how the coaching staff and Coach Key were very transparent throughout the visit. There wasn’t a moment where they pressured me to commit; it was all my decision, but I knew I was ready to commit once the coaching staff and players made me feel like I was a part of their family.”
