Georgia Tech dominated Kennesaw State on Saturday with a 45-17 victory. The Yellow Jackets got out to an early lead and never looked back as they improved to 1-1 on the season. With Georgia Tech already leading 7-0 in the first quarter, redshirt sophomore defensive end Jordan Domineck forced and returned a fumble 70 yards for a touchdown. On the return, Domineck had multiple impressive stiff arms, including one on his own teammate.

With just one defender to beat, Domineck found a Georgia Tech teammate running between him and the defender. Domineck stiff armed his own teammate, pushing him into the defender and opening up the final lane he needed to reach the endzone.

Domineck finished the game with five total tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack and two forced fumbles. Georgia Tech’s defense allowed just 111 passing yards in the game. Domineck had two tackles and one quarterback hurry in week one.

Domineck is one of Georgia Tech’s top defensive linemen

Last season, Domineck started four games at defensive end. He led the team with four sacks and was second on the team with 8.5 tackles for loss. Domineck had a 15.2 percent pressure rate last season according to ESPN, which was the eighth best total among Power Five schools in 2020. He came on strong in the final stretch of last season with 16 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss over the final four games of Georgia Tech’s 2020 season.

Coming out of high school, Domineck was a three-star prospect. He set his high school’s school record with 25 sacks as a high school senior. He also ran track and field and played basketball during high school.

Georgia Tech is now 1-1, but they are about to enter the toughest portion of their schedule. Next week the Yellow Jackets travel to take on Clemson, and they host North Carolina the following weekend.
