Iowa Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark is rapidly shooting up the all-time scoring list. Now, Jackie Stiles of Missouri State is well within reach and it looks like she’ll catch her mark soon.

After beating the Nebraska Cornhuskers 92-73, and putting up another massive performance with 38 points, Clark was asked what it meant to her to be rapidly approaching Stiles’ career mark.

“I mean, she’s one of the best to ever pick up a basketball. So, that’s super cool,” Caitlin Clark said. “And I can’t tell you how close I am or whatnot.”

Clark is, in fact, only four points behind Stiles’ career mark of 3,393 points. Passing her would put Clark third all-time in women’s college basketball. Second place is Ohio State‘s Kelsey Mitchell, with 3,402 points. The all-time leading scorer in the women’s game is Kelsey Plum of Washington, who had 3,527 points.

Moving up the all-time scoring list is cool for Caitlin Clark. However, she did emphasize that it’s not her focus.

“But it’s not something I’m after. I think just keep playing the game, keep having fun, and this is kind of just what comes along with it and I’m just trying to enjoy every single second. I think there’s only, we’re down to nine regular season games left and that’s hard for me to wrap my head around because the season just goes so fast and just trying to enjoy every single second with my team.”

Caitlin Clark and the Hawkeyes will be back in action on Wednesday. That’s when Iowa will take on Northwestern in a key road game.

Recently, Caitlin Clark shared her thoughts on the popularity of Iowa women’s basketball, especially noticing the national attention the team has earned.

“I never take any moment for granted, no matter where we’re playing at, whether it’s at home or whether it’s on the road, all the people that want to come see us. And a lot of people spend a lot of time and money to be able to come and watch our team play for two hours. So, we always want to go out there and it give it your best, give them a little show, give them something to smile about, make it fun, because it’s probably a memory people are going to remember for the rest of their lives,” Clark said.

“It’s just really cool.”
