Iowa offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz has become the target of a Cameo prank, and it has infiltrated its way to into the Hawkeyes program with a requested video for men’s basketball head coach Fran McCaffery on Cameo.

“Hey Brian, Fran McCaffery here,” he said. “I wanted to reach out let you know that all of us know in the Hawkeye family are thinking about you. Your family loves you, your dad loves you, the Hawkeyes love you. If you think about making a move back to New England, or wherever you go, wherever you are, the Hawkeye family will always be with you.”

Ferentz’s ‘move back to New England’ is referring to his stint on the Patriots’ offensive coaching staff from 2008 through 2011. He joined Iowa in 2012 and has been on staff in various roles in the decade since. Most recently taking over as the team’s offensive coordinator, the Hawkeyes have scored only seven points in both of their games to begin 2022 and leading to the Cameo joke.

Bob Stoops accidentally trolls Iowa, Brian Ferentz

Two games into the season and to say the Iowa offense would be struggling is an understatement. Only scoring one touchdown on the year has many Hawkeye fans worried about the future under offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz. Between him and quarterback Spencer Petras, it’s been rough going in Iowa City.

Even so, some of the Iowa faithful have found a way to have fun with the situation. Even former Hawkeyes player and Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops was brought into the equation. He accidentally trolled Iowa and Ferentz during a Cameo, telling Ferentz to get out of the “family business.”

“Hello there Brian,” Stoops began. “This is Bob Stoops here saying hi. Listen, I know you have had a couple of tough two, three years there but the good news is, your family still supports you, buddy. Especially your Dad. He wants you to know that. Even though everyone else seems to be against you, sometimes, the best time is to break free from the family business. Go do what you need to do. All the best to you. A big Boomer Sooner and good luck.”
