Algona (Iowa) three-star quarterback Alex Manske has committed to Iowa State.

He chose the in-state Cyclones over the likes of Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas State.

Manske is the No. 529 overall prospect and No. 37 signal-caller in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 5 player in Iowa.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder made multiple visits to Ames throughout his recruitment. Nebraska was at one time trending for the QB in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), but Manske has opted to pledge for Matt Campbell and the program less than 100 miles away from home. He is the first recruit committed to Iowa State in the 2025 cycle.

Cyclones looking to take next step on recruiting trail

With the 2024 cycle about to come to a close, Iowa State’s class ranks No. 59 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. The class features 22 signees.

Of the incoming freshmen, West Jordan (Utah) three-star wide receiver Dominic Overby is the highest-ranked signee. Overby made a big jump in the final edition of the 2024 On300, as he now checks in as a four-star recruit and the No. 156 prospect.

“Dominic Overby is a prospect that we got wind of late in this 2024 recruiting process. It wasn’t until late in his senior season were we aware of just how gifted of an athlete was hiding in West Jordan, Utah. Overby didn’t pick up his first FBS offer until November of 2023, but when we turned the film on it was a no-brainer,” On3 scouting and rankings assistant Cody Bellaire wrote. “With his size and movement skills combined with his ability to attack the football and make plays after the catch, Overby made it an easy decision for us to place him in the On300.”

Other top signees in the Cyclones’ class include Washington (Okla.) three-star tight end Cooper Alexander, Joplin (Mo.) three-star interior offensive lineman Dontrell Holt and Hartland (Wisc.) Arrowhead three-star defensive lineman Jace Gilbert.
