The top-ranked point guard in the 2025 cycle is set to make his way back to Lawrence this weekend.

Detroit native and IMG Academy five-star standout Darius Acuff, the No. 7 overall prospect and No. 1 PG in the nation, will take an official visit to Kansas this weekend, according to On3’s Joe Tipton.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder was recently on campus last month, as he was in attendance for the Jayhawks’ game against Kansas State at Allen Fieldhouse on March 5. Bill Self and the KU staff are quickly getting Acuff back to the Sunflower State.

Coach (Bill) Self is sticking out to me. He lets his point guard control the whole game. He’s a great guy, a great dude for sure,” Acuff told On3’s Jamie Shaw last month.

Acuff has already taken official visits to Kentucky and Michigan. Texas and Houston are among the other programs looking to land an OV from the five-star.

“I’m going to be looking for a program and a coach that is going to let me do me and let me rock out,” Acuff said. “I want to play with a coach who is going to teach me right from wrong and be there to support me. I’ve thought some about the pro stuff, I want to go to college through. Yeah, college for sure.”

Kansas is currently without a commitment in the 2025 cycle. The Jayhawks have signed three prospects in the 2024 class, headlined by Kokomo (Ind.) five-star center Flory Bidunga, the No. 14 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking.

Darius Acuff Scouting Summary

On3 writes this about Acuff as a prospect:

“Darius Acuff steps on the court with a swagger. He has long arms and a purposeful handle. Acuff is a capable scorer from multiple levels, showing deep range off the bounce or the catch. He is comfortable pulling up in the mid-range and he has a crafty bag around the rim. Acuff is more quick than fast. He has a good first step, getting to his spots, but he needs to continue to work on his burst around the basket. Acuff is a solid passer, making reads and distributing passes on target. He needs to continue getting strong passing off movement. He can also get shot happy. While he has put up big scoring totals, he does so mainly with a lot of shot attempts at this point. His over-dribbling can kill the flow of an offense. Efficiency is a big thing with Acuff, his totals can be inefficient. He has quick hand when guarding the ball in the open floor. He seems to have a competitive fire and no fear. His cousin is Eastern Michigan’s Tyson Acuff.”
