The Kansas Jayhawks survived a close one at home against West Virginia. The Jayhawks narrowly escaped an upset, beating the Mountaineers 76- 74. During the game, Kansas had a few injury scares, notably to starting forward KJ Adams Jr. and starting guard Dajuan Harris. After the game, head coach Bill Self revealed that Adams was dealing with cramps. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for Harris.

“No, no, Dajuan wasn’t (dealing with cramps); they fell on his foot. Juan’s tough, and for him to say he can’t go back in that’s obviously a big deal,” said Self. “He said he could probably play if there’s overtime. Three minutes is gonna make a huge difference? I mean, so if you could play in overtime, why couldn’t you play now? But that tells me he was hurt. So we’ll probably give him a couple of days off and hope he’s ready to go on Tuesday.”

Despite the injury and missing the closing minutes of the game, Harris still lead the Jayhawks on the night in scoring and in the assist column. The six-foot-one junior guard finished the game with an efficient 17 points on 7-9 shooting from the field and 2-3 from beyond the arc. And he also tacked on six of Kansas’ 17 assists. One of which was a nifty no-look pass to Adams early in the second half for a powerful two-handed flush.

Self was all smiles as he joked about Harris playing in overtime. Fortunately for Kansas and their star guard, an overtime period was not needed. Now that the West Virginia game is in the rearview mirror, that’ll give Harris and the rest of the Jayhawks some time to recover as they gear up for the next matchup. And that contest will be 8 p.m. Tuesday night at home against the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
