Bowl season continues in Las Vegas, with the Kansas Jayhawks facing off against the UNLV Rebels in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl. Both programs are coming off solid seasons and want to end on a positive note before moving on to 2024. These are the type of games where teams are competing to get a win while also having a ton of fun.

Kansas defensive back Cobee Bryant gave some of us on our couches something to laugh about in the second quarter. After intercepting Jayden Maiava on a third down, Bryant had a nice return as well before stepping out of bounds.

There, he met UNLV offensive lineman Tiger Shanks, who lightly pushed off Bryant’s helmet after the play was over. Bryant, trying to get his team a 15-yard penalty for a late hit, then produced a hilarious flop after nearly a second of Shanks making contact with him.

You can watch the full moment from Bryant here.

Now, flopping is nothing new in football — especially in these types of scenarios. Getting a 15-yard penalty is worth looking foolish at times. Momentum can swing with an interception and getting even further down the field only helps the cause.

Unfortunately for Bryant, the officials in Las Vegas did not fall for his acting. In fact, in a different incident, Kansas got called for a personal foul call, sending them backward.

Kansas RB Devin Neal returning for 2024 season

According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Kansas running back Devin Neal will be returning to Lawrence for another year. One of the best in the Big 12 this past season, head coach Lance Leipold will be thrilled to keep his offensive star for the 2024 season.

“Sources: Star tailback Devin Neal has informed the Kansas coaching staff that he’ll be returning to Kansas for the 2024 season,” Thamel said. “Neal earned second-team All-Big 12 honors this season, rushing for 1,209 yards, averaging 6.6 yards per carry and scoring 16 touchdowns.”

Neal was a star the moment he stepped foot on campus, leading Kansas in rushing the past three seasons. He was a major recruiting win for the program, attending Lawrence (KS) High School, and beating out the likes of Kansas StateNebraska, and Oklahoma State for his signature.

Just a few years later, getting Neal to stay for his senior season might feel like an even bigger win. Neal could have easily declared for the 2024 NFL Draft and begun his professional career. Instead, the wants to run it back one more time. Kansas should have some serious talent returning as well, making them an interesting team in the first season of the new-look Big 12.
