Following its incredible overtime victory on the road against Texas, Kansas football took the opportunity to poke fun at the Longhorns on Twitter. The Jayhawks tweeted a photo with the final score and the caption “Alright Alright Alright.”

The caption is a quote from actor Matthew McConaughey’s character in the movie “Dazed and Confused.” McConaughey, who grew up in Longview, Texas, is a well-known Longhorns superfan who is often vocal about the team.

Kansas jumped out to a 14-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and never trailed. The deficit grew as large as 21 points in the second half, with many writing the Longhorns off late. However, Texas delivered a pair of touchdowns in the final five minutes, including a 25-yard pass to Cade Brewer with 22 seconds remaining to tie it at 49.

Kansas survived the overtime period, however, by converting a two-point conversion to defeat Texas, 57-56. It the Jayhawks’ first Big 12 win of the season and just their third in the past five seasons.

The loss also made Texas one of just four teams with multiple losses to Kansas over the past decade. The Longhorns are the only Power 5 school among that group, with Central Michigan, South Dakota and Southeast Missouri State rounding out the list.

Texas has now lost five straight games, and sits at 4-6 on the season. With just two games remaining, first-year coach Steve Sarkisian has to win both to become bowl eligible. If the Longhorns miss out on a bowl, it would be just the third time in the past 10 seasons.

The bad news keeps coming for Texas, as running back Bijan Robinson left the game in the third quarter with a wrist injury. His status for next week is yet to be determined.

Their next chance to snap the losing streak comes Saturday on the road against West Virginia. The Mountaineers also sit at 4-6, so somebody’s season is officially coming to a close in this one.

Kickoff for that game is set for noon ET.
