Final Thoughts For Week 12

Kansas is hoping to have their starting quarterback Jason Bean back for Saturday’s game against Kansas State.

The Jayhawks offense simply couldn’t get going last weekend, as Bean left their Week 11 showdown with an injury. However, ESPN’s Pete Thamel revealed Bean could be back for Kansas on Saturday, as the Jayhawks ready for a rivalry showdown with the Wildcats.

“Source: Kansas quarterback Jason Bean is a gametime decision against Kansas State tonight,” Thamel posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. “The decision of whether or not he’ll go will come down to how he feels in warm-ups.”

On the season, Bean has passed for 1,431 passing yards, ten touchdowns and four interceptions, amassing a QBR of 73.3. Additionally, he’s rushed for 169 yards and a touchdown on the season, as well.

The former North Texas quarterback has found a home with Kansas. Hopefully he’ll be out on the field in Week 12, and the showdown between Kansas and Kansas State can live up to the hype.

Jalon Daniels on future at Kansas: ‘I’m not going anywhere’

In other news, fellow Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels addressed his future with the program earlier this week, following another season marred by injuries.

The fourth-year veteran still has at least one more year of eligibility remaining next season if he wants it and could even transfer without any concerns of sitting out since he’s spent his entire collegiate career to date in Lawrence. But he won’t choose to do that, as Daniels has already announced his intentions to return to Kansas next season.

“I’m not done yet and I’m not going anywhere,” the Jayhawk QB said in a video he posted to Twitter.

Here was the full statement from Daniels in this video.

“I’mma be blunt, this season didn’t go as planned. But life comes at you fast, and sometimes, your story is out of your control. But I guess that means I have unfinished business. My dreams haven’t changed, my goals are still there and my vision for my future is clear. So you want something to talk about? Talk about this: I’m not done yet and I’m not going anywhere.”

That wasn’t all the content we got from Daniels after announcing his decision. The Kansas football team Twitter account also posted a message from their quarterback on his pledge to return next fall.

As for Daniels’ year on the field, well, there hasn’t been a ton of snaps for him due to injury unfortunately. He’s dealt with a hurt back for much of the season, appearing in just three total games a year after he only played in nine of 13 contests also due to injuries.

He just can’y catch a break lately. But hopefully fifth year brings a better run of health for the dual-threat signal caller. In his absence, the Jayhawks were lucky to find the emerging Jason Bean. He was the next man up when Daniels went down last season as well and was more than solid in reserve, which has continued this season.
