For the first time this season, Kansas is coming off a loss. College Gameday made their way to Lawrence only to see Jalon Daniels go down with an injury and the Jayhawks drop a game to TCU. Looking to bounce back on the road against Oklahoma, they will be doing so without their star quarterbacks.

Daniels did not practice on Tuesday and head coach Lance Leipold said he will be “doubtful” heading into Saturday’s matchup in Norman. This will be the first game to Kansas signal-caller has not played since Oct. 2021.

Kansas has sported one of the top offenses in the country, with Daniels being a huge reason why. He’s been a threat both in the passing game and on the ground, having 1,413 total yards through six games. Daniels has 11 passing and five rushing touchdowns, with 10 total coming against Duke and Houston combined.

Now, Jason Bean will be the gut to lead the Jayhawks into Norman vs. an unranked Oklahoma team. It’s been since 1996 when Kansas had a road win in the series. There will be an unusual feeling to the game as well with Leipold’s team being ranked — not the Sooners.

Jalon Daniels suffers shoulder injury vs. TCU

Daniels rolled to his right before being tackled into the sideline by TCU linebacker Jamoi Hodge. Daniels remained on the ground for a brief period of time and then walked off the field under his own power, guided to the locker room by the Jayhawks’ medical team.

“The pain was evident on Jalon Daniels’ face as he made his way to the injury table there,” FOX Sports’ Allison Williams said late in the second quarter on Saturday. “Tears welling in his eyes and grimace across his face. Some signs of frustration and disappointment with that injury as well. I heard him pounding on the table there with that left hand while he was being attended to.”
