John Calipari is calling a cease fire to the Big Blue Civil War, sending an apology to Mark Stoops on social media, revealing that the Kentucky basketball coach reached out to Stoops when the day that the comments were made.

“I was told about comments Mark Stoops made in his press conference. I reached out to Mark Thursday & will try again. Comparing our athletic dept. to others was my bad,” Calipari tweeted. “I have supported Mark & the football team through good and bad. I will continue to support them & cheer them on.

“Now I’ll do what I’ve done for 30 years: Coach my team and block out the clutter.”

Stoops said in a press conference Saturday that he intends to do the same and that his team will not be derailed. Regardless, it seems Calipari’s comments aren’t having any effect on his team’s performances, who have obliterated their opponents thus far in a trip to the Bahamas that features four exhibition games.

Kentucky basketball will be in action once again Saturday evening at 6 p.m. ET against the Carleton University Ravens (Ottawa, CA) for Game Three. They’ll round their tropical tour against the Bahama’s national team at noon ET Sunday afternoon before heading back to Lexington to prepare for the 2022 college basketball season.

Kentucky basketball to provide 10,000 shoes for Eastern KY flood victims

The Kentucky basketball team partnered with an organization called Samaritan’s Feet yesterday that helped provide shoes and clean feet for children across the Bahamas. After the seeing how the organization impacted the kids across the Bahamas, head coach John Calipari announced that his team will be sending 10,000 pairs of adult and children shoes to flood victims across eastern Kentucky.

The UK basketball team did this already to the victims on the western Kentucky tornados back in December 2021. The tornado completely destroyed towns and caused millions of dollars worth of havoc on the Commonwealth. Now, a historic flooding has done the same thing and the most profitable sports entity in the state is coming to try and alleviate some of the struggles.

While most of the members of the Kentucky basketball team aren’t actually from the Bluegrass, having the want to help the state out is admirable, and a quality Calipari appreciates over anything they can do on the court.
